With headwinds on the horizon, clients are asking about market volatility and automatically thinking to ‘de-risk’ by switching tacks. However, according to Imak Adviser Dina Buelow, market corrections aren’t bad.
Dina explains such corrections can be a healthy, opportunistic time, even whilst the ‘inflation boogieman,’ rising interest rates, COVID Omicron and supply constraints are putting a damper on the economy.
Lately, we’ve had a few clients wondering what to do as the share markets bounce about. Others with money in a bank account are wondering where they should invest it. If you are wondering the same thing, give Dina at Imak Advice a call. She can talk through some options that could be helpful.
“A key point is that investments are long-term. Investors who keep this in mind will benefit when the pendulum swings the other way,” says Dina.
“Our clients would be investing prudently across different asset classes, sectors, and geographical locations. It’s important not to be distracted by the tales of Bitcoin falling about 50 per cent from its highs before clawing back somewhat recently or tech-heavy Nasdaq falling 15 per cent in 2022.”
“The U.S. S&P 500 ended last year with a return just above 26%. In contrast, the S&P/NZX50 broke their 9-year record of positive returns (cumulative 300%), with a downbeat 2021 return of -1.7% overall.”
“Spreading risk is a core fundamental principle of a sound wealth strategy. A Financial Adviser at Imak Advice can help you arrive at your destination with time and guidance to help you stay on course.”
If you have money invested via Imak Advice or elsewhere, but would like to chat through possibilities, Dina is here to help. You can call her at 09 307 9300 or email investment@imak.co.nz with your details, and she’ll be in touch.
