Supporting our community: ACBC Financial Mentors

Over the past few months, Stewart has had the privilege of getting more involved in our community, and we’re excited to share that he has recently joined Auckland Central Budgeting Consultants (ACBC) as one of their Financial Mentors.

ACBC Financial Mentors is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that provides an essential service at zero cost to people experiencing financial difficulty. Their mission is to empower people to take control of their finances and make the best decisions for themselves and their families, whatever their financial situation may be.

As a Financial Mentor, Stewart meets one-on-one with clients, and assists with day-to-day finances, planning, debt relief, micro finance, creditor negotiation, insolvency and KiwiSaver hardship withdrawals. ACBC Financial Mentors advocate for clients and support people to navigate economic and social systems, to achieve better financial outcomes.

Over the past year, ACBC Financial Mentors held 1,296 free one-on-one sessions with individuals and families.

The key benefits and outcomes Financial Mentors seek for clients are:

• That their financial literacy, capability, well-being and resilience improve.
• That they experience less financial stress, as they gain more control over their finances.
• That there is a reduction in unmanageable debt, and they can work towards a more stable and sustainable financial future.
